The frame is a rounded hexagon, hand-shaped and oiled, with nothing inside it but a vertical band of wood down the middle. The hands turn on that band, so the wall itself is the dial and the clock almost disappears into the paint.
There are no numbers and no markers. If you like a quiet room, this is the clock for it — the shape gives you the interest and the open face keeps the wall feeling bigger.
The hands are cut from the same wood as the frame, with a small brass pin at the centre. A silent sweep movement keeps it noiseless in a bedroom or a study.
The movement takes one AA battery, which cannot be shipped by air; buy one locally and fit it in seconds.

Dust with a dry, soft cloth. Keep it off damp walls and out of long direct sunlight; wood moves a little with the seasons, which is normal. A light coat of furniture oil once a year keeps the colour rich.
